Proper Ways to Wear a Baseball Cap
- Baseball hats come in all shapes and sizes. The cap can be broken down into two categories: adjustable and fitted. While the adjustable cap is a one-size-fits-all model, the fitted cap comes in all different sizes. To figure out your size, wrap a measuring tape around your head, 1/2 inch above your eyebrows, as this is where a baseball cap should properly rest. A too-small hat will sit awkwardly atop your head. A too-large hat will fall too low and wobble about your head. Covering your eyes and ears is never a good look!
- The way you flaunt the brim of your baseball cap is entirely up to you and the style you wish to exhibit. The standard way that most baseball players wear it is to curl it up to give it that perfect curve over their faces. To give it that curve, you can wrap it around any number of cylindrical objects or simply use your hands to bend it into shape. For a more urban look, leave the brim completely straight---a style that is steadily coming into fashion. For a sillier, more care-free look, flip the brim upward, "rally style."
- Again, the way you position your hat is completely up to you. You can wear the brim facing forward to shade your eyes from the glaring sun. Otherwise, you can flip the hat backward for a more rebellious appearance. Cocking your baseball cap to the side or at an angle is also a possibility. However, use caution when wearing your hat like this. Often times, cocking your hat at a certain angle could symbolize membership to a particular gang.
- A fashionable way to wear your baseball cap is to first give it that stylish "wear-and-tear" appearance. This can either come naturally from prolonged use or you can accelerate the process yourself. Put it through the washer and dryer multiple times, set it out in the sun, drag it across the concrete or in the dirt, rip it or even scratch it with sandpaper.
