Types of Bank Jobs in India - Entry Level

Jobs in banks are in huge demand in India. There are various kind of job openings in banking industry ranging from Top Managerial to Entry Level. Opportunities for freshers are available in Private as well as Public Sector Banks. Some of the career opportunities and skills required in banking sector are listed below.

Office Assistant / Clerks
Qualification & Skills - Graduate with minimum 40% marks (some banks demand up to 50%) in Arts / Science / Commerce. Basic knowledge of Computers is essential. Candidates should have proper communication skills. Selection procedure includes a written examination and interview, candidates who come out successful in the written examination can be called for Interview. Sometimes banks provide impart free pre - examination training to a limited number of candidates belong to SC/ST/ Minority community/PWD/ Ex-servicemen candidates. On selection candidates again undergo training and have approximately 6 months of probation period.

Salary for graduates is Rs. 13,000/- (Approx.) (Including DA & HRA) in metropolitan cities.
Age – Candidate should be in the age of 18 - 27 years. A lot of Government sector banks have upper age limit relaxation by 3 (three) years in case of SC/ST candidates.

Probationary Officers - PO is one of the most preferred job position in all banking institution, as Officers enjoy good respect and prestige in the society. Many Probationary Officers work as Credit Officer or Credit Analyst for SME segment. This role requires assessing the financial status of business. Job involves in credit scoring & rating of business proposals for risk rating and loan processing.

Qualification & Skills - Candidates should have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised College / University and Age should not be below 21 years or above 30 years. Many banks have relaxation in the Upper Age Limit to Reserved category candidates.

Selection Procedure is a combination of written examination which includes sections like English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension), test of General Awareness, Data Analysis & Reasoning. Candidates who qualify in written test are called for group discussion and interview. The marks scored in group discussion & interview are considered for final selection of candidates.

Probation Period is between 1 to 2 years and salary range is between 15,000 to 24,000 per month including D.A., H.R.A. and C.C.A depending on the bank and job location.

Probationary Officers and Clerks are Bank Jobs in India, where hiring is done in big numbers. If candidates prepare well in advance, work hard and practice solving some previous bank exam papers he / she can easily clear the exam and get recruited.

Other than these there are many middle level jobs like Relationship Manager, Credit Analyst and Business Development Officer where there is constant demand of qualified job seekers.
