Primal Workouts - Are They Right For You?

103 13
What would humans do if there were no fitness gyms? What did people do to stay in shape before their invention? That thought kept coming into my mind as I explored the world of Primal workouts.
I suppose that because of the harsh environments experienced by the first early humans, bodies were conditioned from birth to adapt.
By doing so, they learned not only to survive the challenges they repeatedly faced but also to thrive in spite of them.
Often when my thirteen year old son watches global television, he sees the physical training youngsters are getting in other Countries and tells me that if we ever went to war with this Country or that one, many of us would get our collective butts kicked because we are so out of shape.
I, ruefully, would probably be one of them.
He plays football every year and is one of the most naturally athletic kids I've ever seen, so it's extra hard to be out of shape around him, but he always inspires me to want to be better, to be healthier.
Not only so that I can keep up with him and his sports schedule, but also to be around having the pleasure of watching him grow up years from now.
Although I for one am definitely grateful not to have to go out and collect wildlife and fowl for preparation as my lunch or dinner (hyper sensitive gag reflex and love of animals included), I can appreciate this Primal Workout for its emphasis on using what is found in nature to rekindle our innate ability and survival instincts.
Once long ago, survival belonged to the fittest.
In many ways, it still does.
Over time, physical attributes and looks took precedence over agility and physical ability.
As gym classes were reduced or totally eliminated in schools around the Country, vending machines and poor quality lunches moved in to replace them.
As work schedules increased and demands for economic survival grew, reliance on fast food and quick unhealthy meals replaced good home cooked meals.
No one was left at home with the time to prepare healthy meals, even if they did have the energy and inclination to do so.
I think that's what attracts me most to this Primal exercise concept.
It makes me remember simpler times and want to be that type of naturally healthy person again.
To just be healthier without having to worry about if working out on the elliptical machine will give me the physical results I want.
Or whether this particular diet is the "magic formula" to spot reduce this area of my body or the other.
Lean Hybrid Muscle Training embraces the best of ancient warrior culture by encouraging daily physical action in the way our bodies were meant to move.
With a combination of power lifting, cardio exercise, bodybuilding and strength training, it is a philosophy of simultaneously burning fat and building lean muscle.
