How to Add Golf Spikes to Shoes
- 1). Purchase the type of spikes that best suit your golf shoes. Some cleats require a specific type of spike, so bring your golf shoes with you to your local golf or sporting goods retailer.
- 2). Clean off the bottom of your cleats, removing any dirt or grass. Use a cleat wrench or two-pin wrench to remove any old spikes that you are replacing.
- 3). Twist and screw in the metal or soft spikes with your hands. Some soft spikes can be simply pushed in rather than twisted in.
- 4). If you are having problems screwing in your spikes, place your golf shoe in a vise to keep it in place. Use a cleat wrench to tighten the spikes all the way into the holes of the shoe.
- 5). Take your shoes out of the vise and try them on. Make sure that your shoes feel comfortable and that they are properly balanced.
