How to Make a Clickable Region in Dreamweaver
- 1). Open your HTML page in Dreamweaver.
- 2). Click the image that you wish to use as an image map. If you do not have an image on the page yet, click "Insert," select "Image" and choose the image you wish to add.
- 3). Click the hotspot tools from the bottom Properties pane. You can choose between a Rectangular, Circular or Polygonal tool, which are graphically depicted with their respective shapes. If you do not see the Properties window, hold the "Ctrl" key and press "F3."
- 4). Click and drag the hotspot tool over a portion of the image that you wish to make clickable. If you selected the Polygonal tool, click multiple times to define the area.
- 5). Click "OK" in the pop-up window that reminds you to define an "Alt" tab, which assists visually impaired users. Depending on your settings, this window may not appear.
- 6). Enter a description of the link in the "Alt" field of the Properties window.
- 7). Enter the URL you wish to use for the link in the "Link" field of the Properties window.
- 8). Save your changes and upload the updated page for it to be active.
