    • 1). Purchase one or more books on the subject of learning the piano and devote enough time to them to quickly absorb the information. Some books that you might want to consider include: How to Play Popular Piano in 10 Easy Lessons: The Fastest, Easiest Way to Learn to Play from Sheet Music or by Ear by Norman Monath and Hal David, FastTrack Music Instruction - Keyboard, Book 1 by Blake Neely and Gary Meisner and Teach Yourself to Play Piano: A Quick and Easy Introduction for Beginners by Hal Leonard.

    • 2). Start with the basics: learning the keys on the piano. Begin by understanding what keys play which notes.

    • 3). Use the same steps taken in learning to play a piano in a longer period of time, but accelerate your study by taking extra lessons or providing more time each day to practice.

    • 4). Practice one or two pieces that you want to improve on and in large part master, if your goal is to perform for friends, family or other guests in a month's time. It is a great deal more reasonable to learn one or two simple pieces, such as Silent Night, and then to try and master some more complicated works.

    • 5). Hire a piano teacher to offer you instruction on how to play the piano. If you don't have access to a piano teacher in your community you can also learn how to play through a variety of different resources, including how-to videos on video sharing websites like YouTube or MetaCafe.
