103 9
The magic is in getting done what you needed to get done, when you needed it done! The above are powerful words.
How many times have we all encountered a situation when things to be done, needed done by a specified time frame? Many times throughout my life, I have...
If you are simply too tired or do not have adequate time to do anything outside of your normal work environment, then your daily routine is out of balance and you need to make adjustments.
The benefit of being better organized helps to keep you busy and that in turn helps to keep the mind off of worry.
Keeping active and making good use of your time, when away from work, and working on projects, hobbies, etc.
, will help you to relax and be contented.
This in turn helps you to be able to maintain a good balance between being busy and being relaxed.
Following are a few tips that might help in getting organized.
1.
Create To Do Lists -- With everything that we have to do within a day, it is difficult at best to remember them all.
The best thing to do is write them down.
(I start my mornings off by creating a To Do List for the day.
) 2.
Keep Your To Do lists in One Place -- Always keep your To Do List in the same spot.
This can be a notepad, sticky notes, whiteboard, or whatever; on your desk, table, counter etc.
3.
Stay Healthy -- Staying healthy will go a long way toward helping you with staying focused and being alert.
Eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and lots of exercise.
4.
Use a Recorder -- Record your thoughts.
This can be done with a small recorder.
You may be driving and something pops in your mind that you want to remember.
This is not the time to write it down but you could record it.
5.
Use Your Phone -- When at work, call your phone and leave a message to remind yourself that you have something that needs to get done when you get home.
6.
Have a Can Do Attitude -- If you keep saying you have a bad memory, you will probably have a bad memory.
It is important to have a motivated, I CAN attitude.
7.
Email Reminders -- Many of the email applications contain calendars with reminders built in.
This is a good place to keep track of doctor appointments, luncheons, meetings, events, etc.
Use them.
8.
Sticky Notes -- Sticky notes are a wonderful aid as a memory reminder.
You can write on them, stick them anywhere and just throw them away after the task has been accomplished.
9.
Use Timers and Alarms -- Take advantage of alarm clocks and timers throughout the day.
Have to take the clothes out of the dryer by 12 noon? Set your alarm clock to remind you.
Want to leave for a dinner by 7 p.
m.
? Set your timer to beep a few minutes before it is time to start to get ready.
10.
Visual Reminders -- Have a vacation planned? Keep a magazine, map, picture of your planned vacation as a reminder and set a goal each day for an item to be accomplished towards the vacation.
Most of us use only a small amount of our true capabilities and we can do so much more.
When you are organized, you will be surprised at how much more you can accomplish in the same time frame.
With this new found time, read a book, relax and enjoy yourself.
Remember that you only have one life to live.
Might as well make it an enjoyable one.
