How to Distress a Pair of Boots
- 1). Dampen a soft cloth with nail polish remover. Rub it all around the exterior of the shoe.
- 2). Rub a piece of 100-grit sandpaper all over the exterior of your leather boot. Watch the amount of pressure you apply. The more pressure onto the shoe that you extend, the darker the shoe will be. The sandpaper will also give the boots an all-over worn look.
- 3). Dip the bristles of a shoe brush lightly in dark brown or black shoe polish. Rub it onto the surface of the leather.
- 4). Dip a soft cloth into a clear shoe wax polish and go over the leather a final time, applying a light coat.
