The links provide information such as types and treatment, why headaches hurt and what research is being done.
- 2). Go to the Headache Education page on the National Headache Foundation (NHF) website if you do not find the information that you are looking for at the NINDS website or if you are seeking further information.
- 3). Click the link for Headache Topic Sheets. Review the list of headache-related topics that appear on the page. The topics include symptoms, medications and other concerns. Choose which topic to review by clicking on its associated link.
- 4). Go back to the Headache Education page if you are interested in further information. The Educational Modules link will take you to mini-educational sites that are sponsored by the National Headache Foundation.
- 5). Go to the Tools for Sufferers page on the NHF website if you want to better educate yourself on how headaches relate to you personally. Take the Headache Quiz and read the Headache FAQ for answers to commonly asked questions regarding migraine headaches. The page also includes links to information that can prepare you on how best to communicate with your doctor regarding headaches that you are having.
- 6). Visit your doctor and ask for a thorough explanation on the particular type of headaches that you are experiencing. If you are interested in learning about headaches in general or if you want more in-depth information, ask for any literature on the subject so that you can take it home and read it for yourself at your own pace. Write down any questions that arise and bring them with you on your next doctor's visit.
