How to Remove Programs From the Start Menu on Windows 2000 and XP
- 1). Right-click the taskbar, the same bar that the "Start" button is on. Select "Properties," which is the last option. This will open a window called "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties."
- 2). Click the "Start Menu" tab and then click on the "Customize" button next to the first option (Start Menu). This will open the "Customize Start Menu" window.
- 3). Open the "Advanced" tab and then, in the list of options, put a check in the box next to the "Enable dragging and dropping" option. Click "OK" to save the changes.
- 4). Open the Start menu. Click and drag a program shortcut on your desktop or from the "All Programs" list to the menu. When you let go of the icon over the Start menu, it will automatically be added to the menu.
- 5). Right-click a program in the Start menu and select "Remove from list." This will remove the program from the Start menu.
