What Is The True Meaning Of Easter?

103 14
Easter is an occasion held every year.
It marks the death and rebirth of Jesus Christ and is renowned for its roots in Christianity, or it used to be.
The occasion is moveable, meaning it doesn't occur on the same date every year, and in fact is celebrated on completely different dates in the west and east of the world.
The date was established as the first Sunday after the full moon following the March equinox.
Using this same measurement, Easter is tracked year by year for the whole world, but understandably changes depending where on the Earth you are, since the moon looks different in different places all over the world.
The true meaning of Easter is the celebration of the son of God rising from the dead after being crucified on the cross.
Today this meaning is still widely taught in schools and in churches around the world, but the meaning has lost is value to many people, as they simply don't hold the Christian faith.
For children it can be hard to see the true meaning of Easter unless it is taught to them in schools, as often parents can't get the point across effectively.
Teachers can organise activities that really explain the true meaning, but churches and their children's programmes do the best job, as is expected.
The meaning of Easter was changed when companies decided to try and make money from it.
The Easter Bunny character was created to make children think Easter was about collecting the eggs the Bunny left out for them.
Chocolate companies today stack retailer's shelves with chocolate eggs in varying sizes and prices, with some making huge profits from the occasion.
People feel pressured into buying these Easter eggs because there's no real alternative for them.
Children demand chocolate on this day and families expect some kind of present from everyone as it has been ingrained that this is the true meaning of the occasion.
Some families will give Easter eggs but still remember the true meaning of Easter and go to church on Easter Sunday.
There are usually lots of fun things for children to do at these services and people will find it a more light-hearted service for them to enjoy on the special day.
Easter is all about Jesus Christ dying on the cross for the sins of man, meaning every Christian can go to heaven because he took on the burden of everyone's sins.
Today many people think that Easter is all about eating as much chocolate as possible, and when they learn of the true meaning from friends or people spreading the word, they might feel a little silly.
