With all that is happening in these times, many of us have fears about safety during Halloween, and this can have a direct impact on our enjoyment.
Halloween is about a little fun fright, a bit of candy and a whole lot of fun.
Achieving this is the duty of us all.
Let us take a moment to focus on methods to promote fun and safety this Halloween: Safer By Day- It is safe to trick or treat during the day.
At night the holiday has more of an impact but the safety risks are greater.
Beginning your trick or treating with your young kids in the neighborhood before dark is a very good idea.
This will guarantee that by sunset you will be almost at home, ending your journey.
Use your Car - If you have to go out after sunset, use your car to drive them through the neighborhood.
The small kids will not get exhausted and you will be able to see all.
Check The Treats - Before allowing them to even taste anything, examine all the candy for pin holes in the wrappers, or partially or unwrapped candy.
Any candy that seems to be homemade should be thrown out, unless the candy was made by someone you trust(like your mom).
Always be Near - Advise the kids to stay in groups and never venture any closer to the home than the front step.
In many cases the friendliest seeming neighbors are still strangers to you and your family, and caution is still necessary.
If you are familiar with your friendly neighbor, he/she may not be the one giving the candy to the kids.
Have Emergency Lighting - As the kids and teenagers begin trick or treating at night, make them alert to the many hazards of walking in the dark, such as yard obstructions and holes in the streets.
Walk on the sidewalks, as you move across the grass make full use of the flashlights to on your path to show any possible danger.
Practice Good Judgement - When out with your friends, the objective is being safe and merry.
If they decide to put toilet paper in trees, egg homes and cars or any other form of vandalism, just leave the group.
Prior to Halloween night children and parents need to have a conversation a and plan to deal with any peer pressure that may arise that night.
