How to Stage a Small Kitchen
- 1). Clean the kitchen from top to bottom. Perform the cleaning tasks normally associated with spring cleaning. Make sure your appliances, faucets, sinks, counter tops and floors are shiny and clean.
- 2). Remove everything cluttering the kitchen counter tops, such as mail, keys, small appliances or vitamins.
- 3). Organize your cabinets and pantry areas with risers for canned goods and decorative baskets to hold small items, such as spices and seasoning mixes. This is particularly important if you have glass doors -- but beware, potential buyers will open and explore your storage areas.
- 4). Arrange cookbooks on shelves with the books arranged from smallest to largest. Your goal is to make it appear like a kitchen in magazines or on TV. Another idea is to place a cookbook holder on the counter top and open the cookbook to a page with an appealing picture.
- 5). Place a decorative bowl on the island or counter top. Fill it with fresh fruit to add a homey touch and nice scent to the area.
- 6). Open your curtains or raise the windows blinds to allow sunlight to filter throughout the room. This adds light and enhances the shine on your freshly cleaned faucets and appliances.
- 7). Bake something in your oven right before the home is shown, such as sugar cookies or fresh-baked bread. This creates an inviting scent in the kitchen area and throughout the home. Another idea is to place two or three cinnamon sticks in simmering water on your stove top to release the scent.
- 8). Add a vase of fresh flowers to your eat-in kitchen table to add color and fragrance to the space.
