Cape town - a journey to kirstenbosch national botanical gardens
I spent some time browsing websites of travel companies and landed at Flywidus, which offered promotional Cheap Airfare. Since, I was flying from Mumbai so booking Emirate Airlines flight was the best option. The airline operates flights from Mumbai to Cape Town with a stopover in Dubai. I was now fully prepared to embark on my vacations and the day had arrived to board the flight to Cape Town.
My flight took off from Mumbai and after more than 11 hours of arduous journey with a stopover in Dubai I reached Cape Town, my dream destination. As my flight was about to land at Cape Town International Airport, the artistic beauty of the Table Mountains below was absolutely bizarre. It was simply awesome to see the nature's bounty this city has been presented. I had now landed at the airport taking beautiful memories of beauty of the mountains along with me. I booked a taxi to reach the City Center. I opted to reside in a mid-range hotel as I was short on travel budget. My stay in Cape Town was planned for one week only.
The whole idea of my trip to Cape Town was only to see the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. I had heard much about the Kristenbosch Gardens, which is acclaimed as one of the finest botanical gardens in the world. It is located just a few kilometers south from the old city center of Cape Town, a significant city in South Africa also known as the Mother City.
Anyone visiting Cape Town should consider taking a leisure trip to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. This garden is a visual treat for the visitors. The eminence of the setting alone on the eastern slopes of the Table Mountain is enthralling. This was the first botanical garden, established in 1913, exclusively dedicated to conserve and display the rich and diverse flora and fauna of the region. The scenic beauty of the garden is spread over an area of 36 hectares. The garden displays an extensive variety of the flora with over 22,000 indigenous species naturally preserved and over 7,000 species under cultivation. The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden was declared as a World Heritage Site in 2004 by UNESCO.
If you are tired after making a capacious tour of the gardens, you can simply relax at one of the two restaurants located inside – The Botanical Café and the Silver Tree Restaurant. The garden offers various activities as well. A free walking tour is conducted every day at 10 am. Golf cart tours are also organized every hour.
I recommend to all those planning to visit Cape Town to at least take a day off and relish the beauty at the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Believe me; your visit here will be overwhelming indeed!
