How to Do Christmas Lighting
- 1). Design a layout depicting colors and placements for your lights on a piece of paper.
- 2). Locate one or more outdoor electrical outlets to plug the light strands into. Place extension cords where necessary and secure them so they do not cause tripping hazards.
- 3). Attach a Christmas light clip to each bulb that will hang from the roof. Make sure you do this while standing on the ground.
- 4). Extend a ladder to the highest level of the roof line to be decorated. Climb the ladder carefully while carrying the light strand. Clip each bulb individually to the gutter or roof shingles, using the Christmas light clips.
- 5). Continue to move the ladder along the length of the roof, until all the lights have been placed.
- 6). Plug the strands of lights into the outlets or extension cords. Disperse the light strands into multiple outlets, as to not overload one single outlet. This will also help to prolong the life of the light strands.
