How to Replace a Sink Erator 444
- 1). Disconnect the old In-Sink-Erator 444 from its electrical source via the breaker panel. The unit is hardwired to your home breaker panel, so you can't simply unplug it.
- 2). Disconnect the drain's trap from the disposal unit by loosening the compression nut with channel-lock pliers.
- 3). Hold the disposal unit with one hand while you place the shank of a screwdriver into one of the mounting ring's lugs. Lift up on the disposal unit with your hand, and then force the mounting ring to the left to unthread it from the sink.
- 4). Set the disposal unit upside down and remove the screw that holds the electrical cover plate on the disposal unit.
- 5). Disconnect the electrical wires from the terminal block, using a screwdriver.
- 6). Connect the electrical wires to the terminal block on the new In-Sink-Erator 444, and then mount the cover in place.
- 7). Place the disposal unit under the sink's drain, and then tighten the mounting ring by turning it to the right until it's tight.
- 8). Place the trap against the coupler on the side of the disposal unit, and tighten the compression nut with the channel-lock pliers.
