The Columbus Blue Jackets have won 22 games and lost 20 games with 5 OTs. Their 49 points put them at 19 out of 30 on the comparisons right now. Not for a lack of a good lineup of players. Forwards include Jared Boll, Derick Brassard, Jason Chimera, Derek Dorsett, Nikita Filatov, Kristian Huselius, Craig McDonald, Manny Malhotra, Fredrik Modin, Andrew Murray, Rich Nash, Jim Novotny, Michael Peca, Raffi, Torres, R.J. Umberger, Jakum Voracek and Jason Williams. Three goalies are on assigned which are Wade Dubielewicz, Pascal Leclaire and Steve Mason. Team defensemen include Christian Backman, Mike Commodore, Jan Hejda, Rostislav Kesla, Marc Methot, Kris Russell, Ole-Kristian Tollefsen and Fedor Tyutin. Players sidelined on the injured reserves include Brassard, Chimera, Novotny, Klesla and Leclaire. Fans shouldnt expect to see Leclaire back on the ice for awhile either.

The 26-year old goalie is scheduled to have ankle surgery and expected to be off the ice for approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Leclaire appeared in 12 games and suffered the injury to his ankle in the preseason game against the Minnesota Wild back in October. After the injury, Leclaire was off the ice for eight consecutive games. The last game that Leclaire played in was against Dallas on December 18th. General manager Scott Howson made the announcement on January 20th about the surgery that Leclaire will have to undergo to repair the injured ankle.

In the meantime, the show must go on for the Jackets. The games left in January for the Jackets will be against the Red Wings, Senators and Stars and all at home. Starting up in February, the Jackets will host the Blues, Sharks, Avalanche, Red Wings, Stars, Blues and Ducks in Columbus. Away games in February include those against the Penguins, Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Flames and Oilers. In March, the Jackets are scheduled to host games against the Kings, Bruins, Penguins, Red Wings, Blackhawks, Flames and Blues. The away games for March for the Jackets will be against the Canucks, Predators, Red Wings, Blackhawks, Panthers, Lightning, and Blues.

Just five games will indicate the end of the season in April for the Jackets. Games being held away include those against the Predators, Blackhawks and Blues. The final game, being held on Saturday, April 11, will be on the Jackets ice against the Wild.

Credit should be given when and where its due and that includes the coaches and other staff who lead the Jackets team along the way. These members include head coach Ken Hitchcock, assistant coach Gary Agnew, assistant coach Claude Noel, assistant coach Gord Murphy, goaltending coach Clint Malarchuk, strengthening and conditioning coach Barry Brennan, video coordinator Dan Singleton and development coach Tyler Wright.

Locker room staff includes head athletic trainer Michael Vogt, equipment manager, Tim Leroy, assistant equipment manager Jamie Healy, equipment assistant Jason Stypinski, team doctor Bruce Baloy, team dentist Robert Hinkle, team doctor Joseph Ruane, team dentist Richard Scheetz, and orthopedic surgeons Ray Tesner, Jason Dapore and Randy Wroble.
