Defrag Has a Lot of Unmoveable Files
- 1). Press "Windows" key and "R" simultaneously.
- 2). Type "Sysdm.cpl" and press "Enter."
- 3). Click the "Advanced" tab, then the "Settings" button under the "Performance" section.
- 4). Click "Advanced" on the "Performance Options" window.
- 5). Click "Change" under the "Virtual Memory" section.
- 6). Click in the circle next to "No paging file," then press "Set."
- 7). Press "OK," and then "OK" again.
- 1). Press "Windows" key and "R" key simultaneously.
- 2). Type "Msconfig" and press "Enter." The Microsoft System Configuration utility loads.
- 3). Click the "Boot" tab.
- 4). Click the check box next to "Safe boot," then click in the circle next to "Minimal."
- 5). Press "Apply," then "OK."
- 6). Reboot the computer.
- 1). Click on "Start," then "All Programs."
- 2). Open "Accessories," and right-click "Command Prompt."
- 3). Select "Run as administrator." The Command Prompt loads.
- 4). Type or paste "Defrag C: -f" and press "Enter." Defragmentation starts. The command will notify you when it has finished. Change the boot mode and page file settings back to normal as outlined in the first two sections and restart your computer.
