How to Fully Restore Windows XP
- 1). Access System Restore by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.
- 2). Select the option "Restore my computer to an earlier time," and click "Next."
- 3). Choose a restore point from the offered calendar. Restore points will be bolded for emphasis; go back on the calendar as far as you like for a restore point. Click "Next."
- 4). Make sure you've chosen the right restore point and shut down any programs that you may have running. Click "Next."
- 5). Wait while the computer reboots. Once it boots back up, you should see a page that says "Restoration Complete." Click "OK."
- 1). Insert the disc that came with your computer's distribution of Windows XP. Boot your computer from the CD to get a list of recovery options.
- 2). Select your recovery choice from the available options. To do a full restore, choose the factory restore option. This will wipe the hard drive clean, but will delete all of your data and files.
- 3). Follow the prompts throughout the recovery process.
