The skin care industry is fast becoming a competitive market. More and more products like anti-aging serums and ageless eye creams are coming out day after day, and the skin care market is predicted to continue to boom. As more and more people become conscious of growing old, the spending level of the older generation is expected to rise significantly. Experts predict that overall spending on skincare products will rise significantly in 2015, by approximately USD 300 billion.

Together with the products' projected growth in sales come consumer standards that also rise significantly. Wrinkles, easily removed or reduced by an anti-wrinkle formula with anti-aging vitamins, are no longer the main issue. Age spots, dry skin and uneven skin tone are now part of the problem. Other problems are dark circles under the eyes and hyperpigmentation. Some new trends and innovations are being explored to get rid of these manifestations of aging skin.

Ultraviolet (UV) Absorbers - Ultraviolet rays pose a lot of problems and more people are becoming aware of it. Skin care companies have begun incorporating UV absorbing components in all kinds of skin care products, including anti-aging serums. Product developers now face the challenge of increasing SPF protection while retaining aesthetic properties.

Natural Ingredients - The insistence of consumers for more natural ingredients in beauty products is constantly increasing. According to a survey, more than three-fourths of the respondents who use beauty products insist on using only those with natural or organic ingredients.

Multi-function products - Like the old saying, the more the merrier. In this case, consumers look for more than one benefit in a product nowadays, with today's consumers looking for smart skin care products that provide different functions. Studies made recently revealed that products containing antioxidants and hydrating ingredients are more popular among consumers. Skin care companies are taking this into consideration, and are coming up with products that can perform two or more functions.

Anti-aging for hair - Skin has been the focus of anti-aging endeavors in recent years, and one of the emerging trends is branching out of beauty products and into the hair care aspect. As skin ages, the experts think, the hair also becomes more prone to breakage, leading to brittleness. The hair then becomes more brittle, coarser, and duller and less voluminous. Product manufacturers are now then considering entering the aspect of hair care.

With sales projected to over forty billion, the beauty market is most likely to create a stir. At the end of this year, the beauty market will most likely end with sales of more than sixty billion. For skin care industry, reaping more growth and success in the coming years is in the bag.
