How to Make Homemade Sports Announcer Sounds
- 1). Listen to a sports broadcast and pay attention to when an announcer uses a sound effect for dramatic effect. One famous example is when boxing commentator Jim Lampley started saying "bang" whenever Manny Pacquiao would hit Joshua Clottey at the end of an otherwise uneventful eighth round in their fight.
- 2). Repeat the sound back to the TV to try to sound as similar to the commentator as possible. Pay attention to when the announcer uses the effect as well so you can later do the same during moments of equal drama during the contest.
- 3). Record yourself to see how closely you can match the commentator. Keep practicing until you are as close in pitch and inflection to the commentator as possible.
- 4). Watch other events with the sound off and add your own commentary with your friends, adding sound effects where you see fit.
