How Do You Take an iPod Apart?
- 1). Push a small, flat-head screwdriver into the crease along the edges of the iPod. Pry the front white casing from the back silver casing.
- 2). Separate the front and back casing, and then disconnect the headphone connector from the headphone jack on the back casing of the iPod. Set the front casing to the side.
- 3). Use a Torx T6 screwdriver to remove the screws on either side of the headphone jack. Remove the headphone jack module from the iPod and set it to the side.
- 4). Lift up on the hard drive, and then remove the black tape from the hard drive connector. Disconnect the hard drive ribbon connector from the iPod and remove the hard drive from the iPod.
- 5). Place the hard drive vertically so that the ribbon connector is face-up. Pull on the ribbon connector gently until the cable becomes disconnected from the hard drive. Set the ribbon connector and the hard drive to the side.
- 6). Disconnect the battery from the iPod's logic board, and then remove the six T6 screws securing the logic board to the front casing. Lift the logic board slightly out of the casing, and then disconnect the LCD video cable from the logic board. Remove the board completely from the casing.
