Installing a Memory Card in a Krazr Phone
- To install a memory card in a Motorola KRZR phone, it is first necessary to remove the battery cover. Because it is possible to dislodge the battery and interrupt the phone's processes, it is wise to first turn the phone off before removing the battery cover and installing the memory card. When the phone is turned off, turn it so that the Motorola logo is visible; verify that a small, rectangular button (usually silver in color) is visible about two inches above the logo. This button holds the battery cover in place; press it in and slide the battery cover upwards about an eighth of an inch. Pull the battery cover away from the phone and set it aside to be replaced later. It is not necessary to remove the battery, just the battery cover.
- With the battery cover removed and the battery still in place, look for a small rubber stopper near the bottom of the phone. Depending on the model of KRZR, this stopper may be either black or white in color, but it is always made of rubber and is designed to hold any installed cards in place. To the right of the rubber stopper is a small, round hinge to which the rubber stopper is attached; to remove the stopper, place a fingernail under the leftmost edge of the stopper and pry it firmly but gently toward the hinge. The stopper may offer some resistance, but its rubber construction makes it unlikely to break.
- When the rubber stopper is pulled back, the expansion slot that holds the memory card should be exposed. If any media is already installed in this slot, gently press it inward to release it and remove it when it pops out. In the empty space, insert the memory card with the metal contacts facing the left of the phone. Note that memory cards are slotted so they can only be installed in one direction; if the memory card offers any resistance, verify that it is being installed in the right direction and try again to insert it. When inserted correctly, the card should slide in with minimal resistance and click into place.
- With the memory card successfully installed, replace the rubber stopper to ensure the card is not accidentally jarred loose. Replace the battery cover by placing it back on the phone, pressing it into place, and sliding it downward; note that it only slides about one eighth of an inch, and should click easily into place. Power the phone back on, and the memory card should be automatically recognized; with the phone powered on successfully, the installation process is complete.
