Will You Be My Friend on Facebook?
How many of us have gotten unsolicited invites to MySpace or Facebook? How many of us have gotten invites from folks we barely know, or just know of by name? And how many times has someone pretended to know you and wanted you to be their friend or offered to be your friend? Well, it has probably happened a lot hasn't it? Over the last couple of years, I've been asked to be friends with many people that I do not know, or folks I barely know.
But what can you tell them without hurting their feelings? Well, since I do not belong to MySpace or Facebook; "I simply state: I am so sorry, I do not participate on Facebook, and do not belong to any of those Mass-Type social networks.
" Sometimes this satisfies them, sometimes not.
Often, they will ask, why won't you be my friend and why don't you join this social network? Here is my answer: "It appears that I do not belong there.
True individuals are not really welcome, they only appear to be.
The reality is only those willing to please the crowd are welcomed.
I am not a "Pepper" and I have more respect for myself than that.
" For small businesses, some of those social networks can be worthy, and it might make sense to join depending on your needs.
Of course, if you want to see what all the fuss is about, I can tell you that social networks, Internet forums, blog comments are a "GREAT" way to study human societies, interactions, trends, complexity, chaos, group dynamics, primate politics, etc.
It's all interesting really.
Please consider all this.
