Lasting Effects of Face Acne

When growing up through puberty during the teenage years, one of the biggest complications adolescents deal with is acne.
This can be characterized by whiteheads, blackheads or red inflamed pimples.
Only 27 percent of teens 12-17 years of age have clear skin while the other 63 percent of teens suffer through the years with acne.
Acne can range from moderate to severe depending on the person skin type.
Acne is caused by the pores in someone skin, which contain a follicle and an oil gland, which help keep the skin lubricated and helps shed of old skin cells.
The acne is created when the oil gland produces too much oil and clogs or blocks the pore.
These pores come to the surface of the skin with a white or dark head and are filled with oil and bacteria.
Acne tends to "run in the family" and can be triggered by greasy or oil makeup's of facial creams, hormonal changes, particular drugs or high levels of humidity including sweat.
Acne is diagnosed by appearance and needs no particular test to prove of someone having acne.
Acne can be treated with different medications or treatments but can also subside on its own.
Examples of treatments can range from someone cleaning their face to remove dirt and excess bacteria, shampooing your hair daily, or avoiding oily facial cosmetics.
Physical or emotional complications can occur from severe acne.
Changes in skin color can occur due to scarring or the acne itself.
Cysts can also occur if the bacteria in the pores spread to surrounding areas and causes inflammation.
Cysts can be avoided by not touching ones face during the day, washing hands on a regular basis and by not scratching pimples and acne already created.
Emotional damage can be created by acne when someone becomes self conscious with their acne and it lowers their self esteem.
Although Acne is most commonly found on ones face or shoulders it can also be found on ones back, arms, legs and or trunk of the body.
One should always call their doctor or dermatologist if self medications are not working on acne or acne worsens and continues to proceed.
Acne is a threat to a teenager's life both physically and mentally when possibly leaving permanent damage and even giving teenagers low self-confidence.
Against a lot of peoples first thought acne is not limited to facial aggravation but can continue all over the body.
There are cures to acne and can be discussed with a doctor.
