How to Decorate Balloons With Fairies
- 1). Draw a fairy silhouette on paper or find clip-art online and print it out. Use an image with relatively simple shapes and thick lines, but be sure that it is also easily recognizable as a fairy. For best results, use linen paper to ensure strength and flexibility.
- 2). Cut out the fairy shape from the paper using a sharp craft knife on a self-healing mat or cutting board. Cut out a circular or oval shape around the cut-out fairy to create a roughly round shape to the overall stencil piece that you will place on the balloon.
- 3). Inflate the balloon with air or helium and tie it closed.
- 4). Press the paper to the balloon and conform the stencil to the side of the inflated rubber. Tape the stencil piece in place ensuring that the fairy shape is pressed firmly against the balloon and there are no gaps at the edges.
- 5). Apply to the balloon through the fairy stencil using an artist's paintbrush. Coat the entire inside of the fairy shape. Use a dark color of paint on a lightly colored balloon and a light color of paint on a darkly colored balloon.
- 6). Allow the paint dry until it's no longer shiny from wetness and you can touch it without getting paint on your fingers -- about 30 minutes
- 7). Carefully remove the paper stencil and tape .
- 8). Coat the fairy shape with a thin layer of white glue using a clean, damp paintbrush.
- 9). Sprinkle a light coating of glitter on the glue. Let dry.
