It's been years since NBC had more than one major hit on their hands. Many of us remember the days when no other network could come close to matching the ratings for the must-watch TV on Thursday nights. The first season of Heroes was the last time NBC had a successful new drama series, but I think based on the new series coming our way this season, the network has a very good chance to beat the odds.

Awake
Following a horrific car accident, Detective Michael Britten awakes from a coma and learns that his wife died in the crash, but his teenage son has survived. As he attempts to grieve and get his life back together, Michael awakens in a parallel reality where his wife is alive and his son died in the crash. In one reality, Michael and his wife contemplate having another child, while in the other, he is attracted to his son's tennis pro. As Michael tries to adjust to his life in both realities, he decides to return to police work and solves cases with the help of clues he finds in each alternate reality. Confused? No worries -- we're in good company.

Grimm
Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella... have you ever wondered what life would be like if these fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm were true? The stories our parents told us at bedtime come to life in this thrilling new drama about a homicide detective who learns that he is a descendant of an elite group of hunters called "Grimms," who have been tasked with keeping the world safe from these supernatural creatures. As he researches his family's past, he soon realizes that he is the only person left who is able to detect these beings and prevent these mythological creatures from unleashing their powers upon unsuspecting victims.

Prime Suspect
Maria Bello stars as Detective Jane Timoney in this gritty crime drama about a New York City homicide detective trying to get ahead in a department full of men who feel a woman has no place in their world. Despite continual road blocks (courtesy of her fellow cops), Jane refuses to let anything get in her way of nabbing her prime suspect.
Cast: Maria Bello as Detective Jane Timoney, Aidan Quinn as Kenny Rowe, Kirk Acevedo as Phil Carter, Tim Griffin as Augie Blando, Joe Nieves as Don Korilko, Damon Gupton as Evrard Valerio.

Smash - Midseason
Steven Spielberg takes a break from dinosaurs and delves into a completely different arena with this musical drama jam-packed with an all-star cast. The series centers on the creation of a Broadway production about the life of film legend Marilyn Monroe. Vying for the lead role is an inexperienced, incredibly talented Midwestern girl (played by American Idol's Katharine McPhee) and an experienced stage veteran who is determined to leave the chorus roles behind and finally become a big star. Behind the scenes are a group of enormously talented, yet highly flawed producers, song writers and directors struggling to make this show a success... no matter what the cost.
Cast: Debra Messing as Julia, Christian Borle as Tom, Katharine McPhee as Karen, Anjelica Huston as Eileen, Jack Davenport as Derek, Megan Hilty as Ivy.

The Playboy Club
Travel back to the legendary Playboy Club in Chicago during the '60s, where getting your hands on the hottest key in town was the answer to all your dreams. Attorney Nick Dalton is the ultimate playboy with ties to some of Chicago's most powerful people. When new bunny Maureen accidentally kills the head of the Bianchi crime family, Nick comes to her rescue and helps her cover up the murder and the two form an instant bond. No night is ever the same at the Playboy Club, where everyone has a secret to hide, most have skeletons buried deep in their closets and only a few know where all the bodies are buried.

The Firm - Midseason
The best-selling John Grisham novel and blockbuster film comes to the small screen. The story follows Mitchell McDeere, a lawyer who is trying to put his life back together after taking down the firm Bendini, Lambert & Locke ten years ago. Fresh out of the Federal Witness Protection program, Mitch and his family soon realize that their lives are still in danger and new threats are around every corner.
