Ways to Improve Time Management Skills
So, instead of facing the challenge to create a plan to manage time, we elect to somehow muddle through.
With just a little bit of time and effort you can actually find work pleasurable instead of feeling like your office is located inside a pressure cooker.
The best way to begin to think about how to use time for your work or other goals is to think about what is important to you and what makes you feel accomplished.
The first plan is for you to figure out where your time goes.
You can do this by writing down, every day for about a week what you do during your day.
After that week is up, sit down and review what you do with your time.
Notice when you actually managed to get things done vs.
time in which nothing was done.
Next, ask yourself what you can do better to control those events in your day.
Effective Time Management Tips Create a set of goals you want to accomplish daily, weekly and monthly so you can review them from time to time to help you stay on track.
• Short term goals: Your short term goal should include a to-do list that starts with the most challenging task and then works down to the least challenging.
The tasks can be broken down in smaller increments to allow you to see the connections to how close you are to completing the goal.
• Long term goals: These are further down the road than the other goals.
Your longer term goals should reflect how each of the recent weeks toward a key goal at the end of the month.
Work your plan, plan your work: Now, that you have goals written down you can work your plan.
Not only do you want to have goals, but you also will want to work on breaking the habits that got you to where you are right now.
Develop habits that will help you stay on task: • Consolidate similar tasks • Do the hardest task first • Use idle time to get something done • De-clutter your work space • No Procrastination allowed.
Once your plan becomes habit you will find so much more gets done and you will ultimately feel less stressed, eat and sleep better, and have a generally better sense of well-being.
It's all in the plan.
