How to Make Coffee on a Grill While Camping
- 1). Light the campfire or the stove. If you will be using a campfire, make sure you have good, hot coals to simmer the coffee pot over (and not flames). If you are using a camp stove, set the burner to a medium flame.
- 2). Fill the coffee pot slightly over half full with cold water and place the metal filter basket into the top of the coffee pot.
- 3). Spoon ground coffee into the filter basket. Measure approximately 2 tsp. of ground coffee for every 2 oz. of water. Adjust these measurements to make stronger or weaker coffee, depending on your preference.
- 4). Place the coffee pot onto the grill or camp stove over the source of heat. Do not leave the coffee pot unattended.
- 5). Remove the coffee pot from the grill or camp stove when you see steam escaping from the top of the pot. Do not let the water reach a full boil. Place the coffee pot aside for approximately five minutes for steeping.
- 6). Remove the filter basket, dispose of the coffee grounds and pour the coffee into cups.
