How to Etch With the Cricut

104 50
    • 1). Decide on the design you wish to etch with your Cricut. Pick the lettering and shapes you will use. Place the sheet of vinyl onto your Cricut mat and insert it into the Cricut machine. Run the Cricut program to cut the design into the sheet of vinyl.

    • 2). Finish the template by removing the Critcut mat from the machine. Remove the vinyl around the cut-out design, keeping the design pieces on the mat.

    • 3). Remove the backing from the vinyl pieces and attach them to the piece of glass you will be etching. Press down the edges of the vinyl letters or shapes to make sure they're flush with the surface of the glass, and that any air bubbles are removed.

    • 4). Open your etching cream and dip the paintbrush in. Apply the cream onto the template and the area of glass that will be etched. Keep applying layers of the cream until it has formed a thick layer. Allow the cream to dry completely (about 10 to 20 minutes.)

    • 5). Remove the excess etching cream with a soft rag, being careful not to wipe away the design. Peel off the vinyl template and enjoy.
