Silverfish Elimination - Getting These Critters Out of Your Home and Out of Your Life

103 28
Silverfish like any pest in the house are these unwanted 1/2" to 1" in long insects.
They are pests not only because they are unsanitary but also because they can ruin your wallpaper and book bindings.
So if you don't want this damage and health hazard you have to get rid of them.
Silverfish Elimination is actually a fairly easy process.
You could just get a home exterminator and be done with it but you are probably more of a do-it-yourself type person who wants to be able to take care of the silverfish problem when it arises.
First of all, why are the silverfish there in your home? They are in your home, especially your kitchen, because there is a food and water source.
Eliminate the things by sealing up packages and fixing any leaky pipes.
Also look in your book bindings and behind wallpaper as this is another source of starch they like.
After you have cleaned up you may have to consider some products.
There are citrus sprays and diatomaceous earth that seem to work the best.
Either of these products after applied somewhat liberally around baseboards or areas you have commonly seem silverfish should eliminate much of the problem.
Citrus sprays work because silverfish hate the smell and are repelled by them.
The downfall of this product is that the silverfish might just avoid the areas where you have sprayed but not actually leave the home entirely.
Diatomaceous earth works better because the silverfish will actually die on contact so there is no chance of them living in another area of your home.
