Fun Easy Desserts for Kids
- Chocolate dipped bananas are not only kid friendly, but they are a cinch for kids to make. Take bananas of your favorite ripeness and have the kids peel them. Stick a skewer up from the bottom into the banana leaving enough to hold on to at the bottom. Place the bananas on a baking sheet covered with wax paper and place them in the freezer for at least one hour. Just before the kids are ready to take the bananas out of the freezer, begin melting some chocolate in a double boiler. Also, prepare any other additions the kids want to add to the bananas, such as sprinkles or nuts, by placing them on plates for easy rolling. Help the kids dip each banana in the chocolate, covering completely. You may need to spoon on some of the chocolate in order to completely cover the fruit. Quickly roll the banana in whatever toppings you wish and place back on the baking sheet and into the freezer. Once the chocolate is hardened, the bananas are ready to eat.
- No-bake recipes are definitely the way to go with children. They typically only require a few ingredients and you don't need to worry about anything hot. For cookie balls, take 10 to 12 of your child's favorite cookies and have them crush them inside of a plastic bag. Place the crushed cookies into a bowl and add about 1/4 cup of milk, soy milk will work as well. Then, to hold the cookie and milk mixture together, add at least 8 tbls. of peanut butter. Using crunchy peanut butter will add an extra crunch to the finished product. Then, add about one spoonful of honey. Mix well and roll into balls. Place the cookie balls onto a cookie sheet covered in wax paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Every kid loves jello. It's simple to make and is very versatile. The only part the kids will need some help is dealing with the boiling water. The fun part comes after the jello is made. The kids can make jigglers out of cookie cutters, put fruit on top to make a jello salad or cover with whipped cream and cookies for a special treat. Let the kids use their imagination and some fun with jello creations by providing them with several "toppings" that they can use, almost like a jello sundae bar.
