How to Use Firmware for an iPod Touch
- 1). Plug your iPod touch into your computer using your USB cord. Open iTunes on your personal computer.
- 2). Click on your device in the left column. It is located under the "Devices" header. Click on the "Sync" button in the bottom right hand corner of the "Summary" screen.
- 3). Click on the "Check for Updates" button under the "Version" header. Apple iTunes will check for a new firmware update. If iTunes detects a new firmware, it will prompt you to download the software. Click the button to continue downloading your new firmware. ITunes downloads the file to your iTunes downloads. Once that process is complete, it will upload the file to your iPod Touch to update your operating system.
- 4). Restart your iPod touch. Click on the "Settings" application. Click on the "General" option. Tap on the "About" option. You can locate your firmware version on the "Version" line. You now have all the features available for that firmware version to use. This includes any new applications and features that came with that firmware update.
