How to Separate Matter by Evaporation
- 1). Place the combined materials into the distillation vessel.
- 2). Place the distillation vessel onto the heat source. The heat source is most commonly a heating mantle or Bunsen burner.
- 3). Raise the temperature of the distillation material just above the boiling point of the more volatile component within the mixture.
- 4). Leave the distillation vessel at the required temperature until no more off-gassing is present. The absence of any off-gassing signifies that the lower boiling point material has been removed from the mixture.
