Here are four quintessential experiences that you should try while in the majestic land of Rajasthan:

Explore Forts and Palaces:

Rajashtan is home to a staggering number of forts and palaces, renowned for their architectural beauty and grandeur. Some of them have even been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From the Amber or Amer Fort and Hawa Mahal in Jaipur, the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur and the City Palace that overlooks the Lake Pichola in Udaipur amongst others such as Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Chittorgarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Jaisalmer Fort, and Jal Mahal, you will be spoilt for choice in this wonderful land.

Ride a Camel in the Desert:

Rajasthan is known as the ‘Land of the Deserts' and is home to the vast and spectacular Thar Desert. One of the best experiences to have on your Rajasthan holiday package is a camel safari in the desert. The most popular place for camel rides and safaris is Jaisalmer, the erstwhile capital of the Rajputs. Here, you can visit the ruins of Loduvra, the Akal Fossil Park and the charming village of Khuri.  As the peculiar looking ‘Ships of the Desert' carry you on their backs, the enchanting view of the undulating sand dunes of the Thar Desert are sure to transport you to a different era altogether.

 Shop for Souvenirs:

The vibrant markets of Rajasthan offer up some fantastic items from brightly coloured textiles to wonderfully crafted souvenirs, from handicrafts adorned with the characteristic Rajasthani mirrorwork and beads to colourful carpets and kota doria mats. The variety of souvenirs to take back home with you are almost mind-boggling and you'll definitely be tempted to carry away as many of them as you can. Remember to bargain though, shopkeepers and roadside vendors will often quote much higher prices because haggling is not only accepted, but expected.

Watch a Rajasthani Folk Dance:

One of the main highlights of many Rajasthan holiday packages is a Rajasthani folk dance performance. The folk dances of Rajasthan are quite famous and provide a great taste of the marvellously rich culture of the state. The performance consists of a group of women dancing while male musicians and singers regale the audience with folk songs. The women dress in traditional costumes that include bright red and black swirling skirts and a number of thick white bangles that go all the way to their elbows, and the dance moves are almost hypnotic and wildly entertaining.
