A Granite Tiles Countertop Edging DIY
- 1). Measure the thickness of the granite tiles for the edges of your countertop. Granite tiles usually average 1/4 inch in thickness, but individual tiles can vary in thickness.
- 2). Set aside granite tiles with uniform thickness for the edges.
- 3). Overhang the tiles on top of the countertop so a space equal to the thickness of the edging tiles juts out.
- 4). Measure the space between the bottom of the overhanging top tiles and the bottom of the countertop edge.
- 5). Use a diamond wet saw to cut the tiles for the edging into strips the same width as the measurement from Step 4.
- 6). Use a notched trowel to spread thinset adhesive on a section of the edge of the countertop.
- 7). Press a cut piece of tile against the edge of the countertop, aligning its edges with the tiles on top for a more polished result.
- 8). Paste the center of a length of masking tape over the piece of tile you just placed on the countertop edge and press the two ends of the tape onto the top side of the countertop and the bottom side of the countertop. The tape keeps the piece of tile in place because otherwise its weight might drag it down.
- 9). Repeat until you cover all the edges of the countertop.
