Aspartame side effects revealed - headaches, blurred vision, neurological symptoms and more

101 9
One of the most known controversial issues regarding aspartame is the story about a woman who experienced some side effects and later on was diagnosed that she had an inner ear infection. After she was diagnosed, she stopped taking aspartame and the side effects disappeared instantly. After 15 years when she stopped taking aspartame, her brother also started to suffer the same symptoms. She recommended to her brother to stop taking foods or drinks  with artificial sweeteners because it may be because of aspartame. When his brother cut the sweets from his diet, the symptoms instantly disappeared as well and they have realized that it was from the artificial sweetener aspartame.

Imagine how an edible product being sold in the markets could cause such damaging side effects to a human's health.

Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that was approved by the U.S. FDA (without much consideration). This artificial sweetener is commonly used on low-calorie beverages and foods being sold publicly. Aspartame is way sweeter than sucrose, so the sweetness of aspartame lasts longer and approximately 200 times sweeter than normal table sugar.

The main purpose of aspartame is to substitute to sucrose also known as artificial sweetener, to make low-calorie foods and drinks. Due to its extreme sweetness, a little amount of aspartame would be enough to sweeten the food with lesser calories.

Aspartame or Aspartic acid is very controversial due to the side effects that it brings to the human body when a certain person is constantly using it. The most common side effects of aspartame are headache, dizziness, sudden change of moods, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, palpitation, abdominal cramps, memory loss, changes in heart rate, fatigue, eye problems, insomnia, loss of hearing, slurred speech, loss of taste, joint pain, and vertigo. There are also illnesses that can be triggered or even worsened by aspartame. These are chronic fatigue syndrome, brain tumors, epilepsy, Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and most especially diabetes.

Aspartame is composed of synthetic chemicals such as 50% phenylalanine, 40% Aspartic Acid and 10% methanol. These three chemicals cause extreme damage to the human body especially when it is taken regularly.

The first and the largest content of the Aspartame is the Phenylalanine. Phenylalanine raises the blood phenylalanine level in the human body. And when it is concentrated in the human brain, it can cause high blood phenylalanine and can cause brain damage to children, kids, and most especially to fetuses. It can also cause depression to an individual because it makes the serotonin level in the human brain to dramatically drop.

The second to the largest content of Aspartame is the Aspartic acid. Aspartic acid, also known as an excito-toxin, over stimulates the neurons in the body until it dies and then cause the amino acids in the body to be imbalanced which may cause interruption in the neurotransmitters of the brain.

The third, the smallest and the most dangerous ingredient of aspartame is the Methanol. It dangerously becomes formaldehyde when metabolized inside the body. When methanol is ingested in our body, it will be distributed to the brain, muscles, and nervous tissues. It will enter the cells and it will bind to the proteins and further start its infestation. Methanol is a carcinogen that causes damage to the vision of the human eye and can also cause damage to fetuses that may result in birth defects or abnormalities.

When a human is constantly taking aspartame, it will cause him/her to gain weight. Majority of Diet and Light labeled sodas contain aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. Chewing gums and some candies also contain aspartame. Some chewing gums contain synthetic sugars which only create acids that produce more fats so as to be able to store the extra acids in our body. This causes a human to gain weight.

The U.S. FDA says that the acceptable amount of daily intake of aspartame is only 40mg/kg. This was also approved by 100 regulatory systems from various countries. But why risk? Early avoidance or completely cutting out the intake of aspartame is the best treatment and the best way to protect yourself from the side effects of aspartame. Go natural when it comes to flavoring and sweetening your foods. You may also check the label of the foods that you buy, and if you see aspartame in the label, you better not buy it for a healthier safer life.
