Cures for Adult Acne & Scars
- Baking soda works exceptionally well on both adult acne and scarring because its alkaline nature kills off acne-causing bacteria, and its exfoliating structure buffs away dead-skin cells and discolorations on the skin. Baking soda can be used daily and will not irritate or inflame acne-prone skin, making it great for people prone to redness. To use baking soda on acne and acne scars, combine one tablespoon of baking soda with one teaspoon of water. This will make a soft paste that can be gently massaged onto the skin to eliminate acne and to slough off skin discolorations. Rinse well after 30 seconds.
- Lemon juice is a very acidic substance that both lightens areas of scarring and gently removes dead-skin cells, effectively helping to unclog pores and reduce acne. Lemon juice can be applied to the skin without dilution, and can be used every day. You can purchase lemon juice in a concentrated strength at any grocery store. To use, simply soak a cotton pad in lemon juice, and spread it around the skin after washing or exfoliating. You can apply it liberally, and should focus on areas that are particularly discolored. Let the lemon juice dry on the skin.
- Olive oil is a very emollient oil that is both highly nutritive and non-comedogenic, making it perfect for moisturizing acne-prone skin and loosening dead-skin cells to help eliminate acne scars. You can apply olive oil by placing a few drops of oil onto your fingertips, and massaging the oil onto the face. You only need a very small amount in order to effectively hydrate the skin. Massage the areas of scarring more deeply for a few minutes in order to loosen and slough away the discolored or dead-skin cells.
