How to Build a Bamboo Screen
- 1). Measure the width of the area where you want to install the screen, and visualize how high the screen should go. Using those measurements as a guide, cut bamboo poles to the desired height of your screen with a hand saw. Use as many poles as you need to achieve the desired width.
- 2). Unravel 22-gauge wire from a spool. Measure and mark the wire so that it is 4 to 5 inches longer than the top of the bamboo poles. Wind or wrap the end of the wire securely over the top of a pole several times. Pull it taut so it does not loop but remains tight against the pole.
- 3). Measure the same distance from the other end of the same pole and repeat the procedure to wrap the end of another spool of wire several times over that point.
- 4). Lay the bamboo pole on a level ground, and extend the top and bottom wires at least 15 inches to its right side.
- 5). Lay another bamboo pole adjacent to the first one, directly over the upper and lower wires. Align it so its top and bottom are in line with the previous pole, and arrange for both poles to touch.
- 6). Hold the second pole firmly while wrapping the upper wire securely over it. Wrap it the same height from its top as the previous pole for uniformity. Repeat the procedure to wrap the lower wire around its lower end. Make sure the only space between both the bamboo poles is the thickness of the upper and lower wires in between.
- 7). place another pole against the previous two and repeat the procedure to attach it. Continue attaching poles until you achieve the thickness of the screen.
- 8). Drill a hanger hole through the top and bottom of the two corner poles. Drill the top hole above the wire, and the lower hole below the wire. Run fishing line or wire through both hanger holes to hang in the desired spot.
