The Uses for Big Stretch Caulking
- Big Stretch caulking is a product of Sashco Sealants that retains adhesion and flexibility in high-movement areas in most residential applications. You may smooth, or tool, Big Stretch with a wet foam paintbrush or foam sponge. This tooling will leave a smoother finish when you apply Big Stretch in large cracks or gaps.
- You can use Big Stretch to seal joints between two different surfaces even when they are made of different materials. According to the manufacturer, even joints that are subject to up to 2 inches of expansion and contraction can be sealed with Big Stretch.
- Big Stretch can fill holes and gaps in material with Big Stretch. Because it shrinks as it dries, it may create a concave surface, so larger gaps or holes will require refilling.
- You can easily fill nail holes with Big Stretch. Squeeze a little putty in the hole and smooth it over with a wet foam brush. After letting it dry, the nail hole is ready to be painted.
- Because of its excellent adhesion and tooling properties, Big Stretch may be used as a window glazing.
- In these applications Big Stretch should only be used in areas that don't receive a lot of foot traffic and that are above grade. Too much water can prevent Big Stretch from curing and constant exposure to water can weaken the product.
