Liposuction - Doing What Diet and Exercise Fail to Do

103 25
Diet and exercise: it seems to be the mantra of everyone trying to lose the pounds.
While that is the best and healthiest way to lose the weight there are often problem areas that don't want to drop the fat.
We've all see the areas, the back of the legs, the flabby arms, the double chin, and that little pouch of fat on the tummy.
It's embarrassing to be total fit and trim but one or two areas.
If you've dieted and exercised your way to a size six from a size sixteen but you still have that spot or two you might be thinking it's time for liposuction.
Liposuction is when your cosmetic surgeon makes a very small incision and inserts a tube with a laser.
The laser melts the fat while the tube sucks it away.
This removal of fat cells rids you of those nasty little problem areas once and for all.
Your doctor won't remove all the fat in the area, doing so would be nearly impossible and would be dangerous.
He will remove some of it.
The area will be noticeably thinner than before the procedure was performed.
To be considered a good candidate for liposuction you need to be in relatively good health.
It is recommended that you will have tried to lose the fat the normal methods, by dieting and exercising, prior to your appointment.
You also need to have realistic goals that you want to accomplish during your procedure.
Your doctor will discuss all of this with you prior to scheduling your surgery.
He will need a full medical history to ensure there are no complications during your procedure.
He also needs to know what, if any, medications you are taking and may request you stop taking certain ones just prior to the surgery and during your recovery.
Liposuction is often a simple outpatient procedure.
Many of these types of procedures are performed with local anesthetic only but if you insist or are having more surgery performed at the same time, you may be sedated during the procedure.
If you are given a local you can go home very shortly after the procedure but you will need someone to drive you home even though you should be able to be up and walking around.
There will be some bruising and swelling at the treated area which will go down within a few days, the bruising may take a week or two to fully go away.
The important thing to do at this stage is to follow your doctor's orders very closely.
Often because of drainage there will be no stitches closing the wound and you don't want to risk getting an infection.
Having liposuction can rid you of that unwanted flab that just never seems to go away.
Once the fat cells are removed and the area has healed some people say that the skin tightens back up, giving the area not only a slimmer but a firm look to it.
