Buy a Dog Crate to Potty Train Your Dog

Dog lovers, who recently got a puppy love, should think about buying a dog crate because it can be so useful for potty training.

To make their puppies more comfortable with living in their crate, here are some things that owners must remember:

Associate the crate with something positive. If an owner uses the crate as a means of negative reinforcement when the puppy does something wrong, the puppy will see it as something to avoid. They might never get used to living in a crate if their owners use this method of training. Instead of negative reinforcement, owners should use the crate as a means of positive reinforcement. They can start by rewarding their dogs with affection or doggy treats whenever they go inside their crate. Pretty soon, they will start to love their crates and use it as their hangout spot or comfort zone.
Give the puppy a regular schedule for relieving himself. Dogs normally will not soil or dirty the area where they also sleep. Therefore, if a puppy is placed inside a crate, it will be easier to potty train it because it will learn to control its soiling urges. However, dog owners also have to give their puppies a break by taking them out of their crate, ideally every hour, to allow them to relieve themselves. During this time, owners should make it clear that it is not play time, but a time for digestive waste disposal.

Go for a wire or aluminium cage, instead of a soft or tent crate. Like babies, puppies also go through a teething stage. They tend to chew on everything they can get their teeth on. To prevent them from filling their new homes with teeth marks, owners should leave them chew toys and various doggy treats to prevent them from chewing on their cage. Or, better yet, they can just buy a dog crate made of wire or aluminium, since they can withstand chewing attacks more than the soft type of crates.

Dog owners, who were able to successfully crate train their puppies, reported that their pets learned to love their crates so much, that they would cry when they couldn't get inside their crates. Dog owners who are looking to buy a dog crate can achieve the same results if they follow the simple tips above.
