How to Shape Marble Into a Pendant

    Wire Wrapped Marble Pendant

    • 1). Cut four lengths of 24-gauge wire, approximately 5 inches in length using wire cutters. Place them side by side; wrap three or four twists of 28-gauge wire, a thinner wire, around the middle of the bundle using your chain nosed pliers. Cut flush the 28-gauge wire.

    • 2). Open the bundle of wires to form a star shape with all the wires roughly equal distances from each other. Place the marble in the middle and bend the wires up around it.

    • 3). Gather the wires just above the marble. Bend them to firmly hold the marble in place. Wrap three twists of 28-gauge wire around the bundle at the top of the marble.

    • 4). Bend two ends of the wire to make a loop for a chain, which is called a bail. Snip off the other wires or twist them into decorative curls.

    Spiral Cage Marble Pendant

    • 1). Make a flat spiral of 26-gauge wire that's a little smaller than the diameter of your marble. With the same piece of wire, make an identical spiral in the opposite direction. You now have two flat spirals joined together.

    • 2). Fold over the spirals at the join so that they are parallel. Pulling gently from the center, open both spirals up a little so that you have a single three-dimensional spiral, narrow at the ends and large in the middle. Fold up the loop in the center of one of the spirals.

    • 3). Push the marble into the middle of the spiral. Push the coils of the spiral together behind it, fitting the spiral as closely as possible to the marble.

    • 4). Add a jump ring to the coil you folded up. Wear your marble as a pendant.

    Simple Flat-Backed Marble Pendant

    • 1). Match a flat-backed marble to a pendant blank of similar size and shape. Put a small drop of E6000 or suitable jewelry cement into the blank; position the marble into the blank flat side first.

    • 2). Allow the cement on the marble pendant to dry overnight or longer if the manufacturer's instructions specify more time. Clean off any excess glue.

    • 3). Thread a chain, cord or ribbon through the pendant's bail or incorporate it into your beadwork.

    Flat-Backed Marble Photo Pendant

    • 1). Cut out a small image from a magazine, the same size as the back of your marble. Place a dot of silicone glue on the image. Smear it around with the back of the marble. Position the marble directly over the image, ensuring that there are no air bubbles or wrinkles. Allow to dry.

    • 2). Mix up a marble-sized ball of two-part epoxy putty or knead a marble-sized piece of polymer clay until it's soft. Press the marble into the clay or putty with the picture face up. The clay or putty will displace and form a frame around the marble. Sculpt designs into the frame with a toothpick, if you like.

    • 3). Bake the polymer clay according to the manufacturer's directions or allow the epoxy putty to cure. When the putty is cured or the clay has cooled, decorate the frame by brushing on acrylic paints if you wish.
