Every pet has its own behavior and there are courses and lessons that may be effective to other dog but not to your dog.
However there are common and universal rules you can follow while you are training your dog.
Never punish the dog.
It is not right for pet owners to yell and hit the dog every time they fail to obey your command.
Punishing the dog might only cause further behavioral problems such as aggression.
Remember that the dog has a protective instinct toward himself.
If you hit them they would think that they need to protect them self from any harm.
Punishing the dog will also promote hostility towards you, making the training more difficult.
Reward and praise your dog every time it accomplishes something.
Rewarding will motivate your dog to continually performing the same act.
The main goal of every dog is to please their owners.
Knowing this behavior, you must promote good behavioral traits by taking advantage of dog's innate traits.
Make the dog training session short and fun.
Dogs are known for their short attention span.
Making your training longer than it should will only bore the dog.
You will also waste a lot of time because the dog can never absorb the things that you are trying to teach.
Learn what motivates your hound most.
Generally dogs are motivated by food but there are dogs which prefer praise or extra time with their owners.
Test their level of obedience in several situations.
This is to make sure they are still following your commands even though you are not around.
Start your training with the simplest task.
You can progress to more complicated ones when the dog already knows how to do the simple type of commands.
Be patient when you are training your dog.
It is expected that there will be challenges along the way.
There are some tricks and tasks that the dog will have difficulty to follow, this is normal.
Give them time to learn how to do the task they are having difficulty with.
