The scientific name for yeast infection is Candidiasis.
In small amounts, yeast is present in areas of our body that has skin folds, like mouths, abdomen, under arms, nail beds or under the breasts and the vagina for women.
Yeast infection causes our bodies to produce too much yeast and is triggered by a fungus called Candida Albicans.
The most common symptom of yeast infection is itching in the affected area.
But the good news is that yeast infection can be treated, and there are certain ingredients commonly found in any home that you can use to fight this.
  1. One way to relieve yeast infection is to apply natural garlic paste on the affected area.
    What you can do is get a couple of garlic cloves and smash and convert it into paste which you then apply.
  2. While garlic is very pungent and disliked by many, an alternative which is not so smelly is honey.
    But honey is much stickier and may be quite uncomfortable to some.
    Nevertheless, users have testified that applying honey on the affected regions helps alleviate the various symptoms of the infection.
    Apply honey and leave it for about 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
  3. Another solution is the use of diluted Tea Tree Oil directly on the skin.
    You can mix Tea Tree Oil with extra virgin coconut oil or sweet almond oil and apply it on the sensitive areas of your skin.
  4. A good antibacterial and antifungal remedy is cider vinegar.
    You mix 1 to 3 tbsp.
    vinegar in a quart of warm water and soak the affected area using a cotton dab.
    Leave it on for around 20 minutes for positive effects.
  5. Yoghurt or curd also has very positive results.
    These must be applied at least twice a day and left over for half an hour.
  6. You must also observe a strict diet regimen during the treatment period.
    Firstly decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary food, as sugar promotes yeast growth.
    Avoid alcohol, junk food, dairy products, caffeine, and excess of tea.
Often when the infection is severe or recurrent and you are not getting any appreciable relief from these medications, it is best to consult your doctor who will do a thorough medical examination and prescribe necessary medicines.
