How to Create a Cellular Phone Voice Message
- 1). Hold down the "1" key on your cell phone keypad to access your voice mail system. Enter your password and complete the setup wizard if this is your first time logging into your voice mail.
- 2). Select the option to modify your voice mail greeting when prompted. On the next menu, choose the option to record your own custom voice greeting.
- 3). Limit your voice mail message to under 10 seconds. Keep the greeting as concise as possible---don't make your voice message too lengthy because you want to keep the caller engaged long enough to leave a message.
- 4). Say your greeting when prompted. Inform the caller the she has reached your phone number (for instance, "You have reached 213-555-1212") instead of your name in case the caller has called the wrong number. If this is a business cell phone, state your company name in place of the number. Apologize for your absence and ask the caller to leave a detailed message stating his reason for calling along with a return phone number.
- 5). Listen to the playback of your new voice message. Press the designated key (such as the pound key or the "1" key on some voice mail systems) to save your recording when satisfied. You'll hear a confirmation once the system saves the message.
