How to Check for High Pitch Noise Pollution
- 1). Turn the noise dosimeter around so that you can access the back. Remove the battery compartment lid. If there is a screw on the lid, remove the screw first with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver.
- 2). Insert the appropriate number and type of battery into the battery compartment. Reattach the lid. If there was a screw on the lid, tighten the screw.
- 3). Turn the noise dosimeter back around so you can see its front. Hold the dosimeter so the probe at the far end is facing forward and slightly up. Press the dosimeter's power button to turn it on.
- 4). Press the "frequency range" button on the side of the dosimeter. Adjust the setting, using the buttons on the side, to set the meter to react to high-pitch sound.
- 5). Press the button on the front of the dosimeter, below the LCD screen. Hold in the button until "20 secs" appears on the screen. Release the button and do nothing until the text on the screen disappears.
- 6). Move around the area in question to view the "noise pollution" readings on the dosimeter. Press the power button to turn the dosimeter off when you are done.
