Social Networking - How Not to Ruin Your Reputation Online

103 18
Networking is powerful to obtaining contacts in business, if you know how to pursue connections properly.
There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to invite people into your circle for establishing your network.
What about the individuals who befriend you across social networking sites for the sole purpose of advertising their business? You know the ones; they bombard your inbox with sales pitches and offers to join their many business opportunities and programs.
They blatantly post their ads in your comment sections without taking the time to find out if you're even interested.
These attempts never accomplish real results in creating a powerful network but can severely tarnish their reputation.
Don't be one of them! Don't Sabotage Your Reputation or Credibility The reason we build a network, especially entrepreneurs, is to create a list of people with whom we share access to resources and connections that can assist all of us within the network, with expanding our businesses.
The goal is to strategically choose individuals who are our peers in business or are where we desire to be in our business.
Don't seek out any and everyone just for numbers sake, your network should be built around key people who provide information and resources that promote business growth.
You need to have confidence when you recommend people in your network with others, that the level of quality and integrity in service they receive is outstanding.
If your business is structured around a list, which it should be, be selective in what resources you share.
Many tips and information flow through your inbox each day but only reputable and useful tools should be passed on to your network.
If you are continuously sharing links to the various "latest, best marketing system available online now", how serious are your contacts really going to think you are? Your credibility and expertise become invaluable because you portray a lack of discretion or consistency.
Another way to NOT ruin your reputation is to avoid promoting yourself or business on every site that offers free advertising.
Be careful what or whom you attach yourself to, free exposure is not necessarily good exposure.
When making a decision whether to promote your business, ask yourself, "Will this help my business grow, will this help me acquire business associates and will I gain prospects?" It takes a good amount of time to build your brand online but it takes a few frivolous mistakes to undo it all.
The Key to Sustaining a Reputable Reputation My advice: Define your business around the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you.
Practice those things you expect to achieve in your business endeavors on a daily basis.
Your business is a direct extension of you; consider how you would like to be perceived by others.
When determining network connections, make wise and calculated decision while asking yourself, "how can I help this person" instead of "how can this person help me".
Build a network that you nurture, of like-minded individuals and see how quickly your business will grow.
