How Often Should I Blog?
Content is King
If you have something meaningful that your audience is interested in and would benefit from, blog about it. If you don't, don't blog.
Be Social
If you are blogging and responding to those who comment on your blogs as well as participating in appropriate forums and other blogger sites in your area of interest and still have time for the rest of the things important to you in your life — your family, your career, your passions and hobbies — then you will naturally discover how often you can effectively blog.
Define your Blog Marketing purpose
Is your blog supporting your business plan? What role does it play? Some blogs are designed to help potential customers get to know you. Can this be done once a week? Probably. Some blogs are providing timely information or insights about news. These blogs will be driven by the amount of news in your industry and could happen several times a day.
Experiment
Check your site statistics. Try blogging once a week for a month. Then blog daily for a month. See how traffic varies based on the frequency of your blogs. Vary the length of your blogs. For example, write longer blogs once a week then try writing shorter blogs several times a week. Your audience will help you decide. Keeping and watching your site statistics is critical to determine how often to blog.
This is ideal because it allows me the opportunity to create fresh, valuable content, once a week, yet our readers get new content everyday. However, on my personal blog I only blog once a week unless there is timely news that I want to comment on. This keeps my content fresh, not forced and I don't burn out. There are no rules. Just guidelines. Remember, great content is king, leave enough time to be social, stay focused on your blog marketing purpose, and experiment.
