How to Read a French Book

104 94
    • 1). Decide whether you want to learn French through a computer program or using textbooks. Computer programs such as Rosetta Stone can be expensive but are better structured and more efficient teachers.

    • 2). Use your notebook as a journal for exercises as you learn. Write new words you learn each day on the right-hand side of the page.

    • 3). Place important rules, such as for conjugation of verbs, on the front inside cover of your notebook. You may write them in or type them on your computer then print out the information and paste it on the inside. If you run out of room, continue on the back inside cover.

    • 4). Order children's books in French and read them. If you choose books you are familiar with in English, it will help attune your mind to processing stories in a different language.

    • 5). Work your way up to higher-level books as you continue studying with your textbooks or software. Eventually you will be able to read adult literature in the French language.
